English News @ SK Jengka 3

Latifah Bt. Mat Nor and I have been planning and developing resources at SK Jengka 3.  We have worked together to create a template for pupils to create news paper articles on any topic.  Today we launched the resource with her Year 5 pupils, studying Natural Disasters.  The project was a great success and the pupils enjoyed making their newspaper articles on poster sized paper.  The resource we created, English News, is suitable for any topic and any level.  It supports 21st Century Learning and is a great way to create an English corner or wall too!  Please take time to explore this resource and use in your own instruction.

It has been a great initiative with Latifah, and I am proud to share English News with you.

Brighton Kids English Club XIX

And we're back after some spectacular Hari Raya celebrations, ready to learn some English! It was a busy afternoon at the Club: we played some games, worked on our (ongoing) artwork a bit, and revised a lot of language from the last few meetings. It's been a long time, and we were all a bit rusty, so we practiced rolling the dice and answering questions while moving through our LARGE game board. Hazim was the winner, and he took home a brand-new Justice League comic book! We also got sidetracked and did a bit of mathematics, worked on European geography, and  discovered the origins of today's special snack: Istanbul! We had Turkish Delight, which turned out not to be a Malaysian delight. So we had chips (crisps) and soda. Everyone had a great time, and we look forward to seeing you all next month!

PAL Reading Funfair @ SK Jengka 4

SK Jengka 4 hosted the PAL Reading Funfair today, 14rd July 2015.  TELL teachers Mazni Bt Daud, Ummee Fatihah Binti Azih and Suhaiza Binti Asiran did an excellent job this morning.  Teachers and students had a great time with the activities and learned about the PAL Reading Programme.  After the event, teachers commented that the programme is very interesting and that the activities they assisted with can easily be used in other subjects and in class, as well as for co-curricular mornings.

Great work SK Jengka 4 and I hope to help with the PAL Reading Programme more in the future!

Pen PALS Pahang @ Jempol Cluster

The Pen PALs Pahang programme is gaining support and enthusiasm throughout Jempol Cluster.  The programme combines the Peer Assisted Learning programme with writing composition to help generate interest and excitement about English and improve literacy skills.  In the Jempol Cluster, SK Jengka 3, SK Jengka 4 and SK Jengka 5 are involved.  SK Jengka 3 were the first school to get involved in the programme, and have already have exchanged two sets of letters.  SK Jengka 5 is very enthusiastic about the programme and the whole school is involved, Years 1-6!  I hope to continue to see this programme grow because it is fun for the pupils and a great way to give real practice composing letters.
