Faridah bt. Jaffar has been combining higher level thinking
skills with phonics in her Year 1 class.
She not only uses gestures to help students visualize the phonemes, she
has been using mind mapping to help the students understand the relationships between
writing, speaking and reading. Faridah’s
lesson reminds us to integrate critical thinking skills with any activity and
to put some thought in our lesson plans.
When we plan effectively, student understanding and fluency
increase. Great work Faridah!
