Cultural Awareness Workshops @ SK Jengka 3 & SK Chenor

This week, in Maran Cluster, we put on two Cultural Awareness Workshops for Year 1 & 2 students at SK Jengka 3 on 16^th February and for the entire school at SK Chenor on 17^th February.  In the workshop, “The Importance of Understanding Other Cultures: Pancake Day,” students learned about the cultural tradition and holiday celebrated in England, and around the world, known as Pancake Day.  We presented a mini-lesson on Pancake Day, and then the students all got to make pancakes!

First, students learned  the process for making pancakes.

Let’s learn how to make pancakes for Pancake Day!

Step 1: Pour the flour, sugar and salt into a bowl.

Step 2: Add the milk, oil and vanilla essence.

Step 3: Mix until smooth.

Step 4: Cook on a hot skillet & FLIP!

Step 5: Cover with lemon juice and sugar.

Next, the students learned “The Pancake Day Song.”

Then, students all had the opportunity to make their own pancakes. They followed the process they learned in the short paragraph and song, and then brought their pancake mix to Tom to cook for them.

Finally, they completed a creative activity where they designed the most delicious pancake.
